It's too bad about Liu Xiang. But we watched Guo Jingjing dive, and we all thought she was terrific and a good representative of the country.
The Olympics is such a risky business for journalists. It's hard to predict who will win the medals, since the difference between gold and nothing is sometimes so small. But they take the chance because if they are right, then they are the first with the big story.
